Prof. Ma, Yi Sun (D4), and Atsushi Kakogawa (D1) made a visit to Qingdao Technical College in Shandong province, China on October 30th. We got a meeting with Dr. Pengzhao Liu (Secretary of CPC Committee, QTC), Associate Prof. Wei Liu (Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee), and Mr. Mingyao Zhang (Haier Electrical institute Secretary of the party).

We introduced our research and discuss about possibility of the research cooperation.

With a part of “Cool Japan Program” which is Invitation Program from high schools in United Arab Emirates, six high school students and three teachers from Abu Dhabi had a visit to our lab. We introduced our researches, demonstrated robots, and had lunch together.

“Science Demonstration Day” was held on 16 July 2011. This is to make a chance for high school students to get in touch with actual scientific researches in the university. The students in Ristumeikan Moriyama high school and Ikuei west high school participated this demonstration day. Many kinds of scientific labs (Mechanics, Chemistry, Architecture, Biology, and etc…) introduced their researches. We also introduced and demonstrated a snake-like robot, a crawler robot, a quadruped robot and an omni directional mobile robot.

Five guests in a research institute of DAIWA HOUSE INDUSTRY CO.,LTD have visited our laboratory.

Prof. Ma paid a visit to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland of American, and gave a lecture to the teachers and students in Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Biology. He introduced the research in Department of Robotics in Ritsumeikan University, and the research of snake-like robot in our Lab.

Prof. Maeda went to Harbin Institute of Technology with Prof. Ma and Mr. Quan on invitation to take a lecture for Chinese students. Quan also made a lively speech of life in Japan and how to apply for abroad study.
